  • Keep your feet clean. This prevents infections.
  • Check your feet frequently for cuts, scratches, or swelling. Treat them as soon as you identify any problems.
  • Moisturize your feet, but not between the toes.
  • Always ask your podiatrist to trim any corns or alluses, don't do it yourself.
  • Always wear clean dry socks.
  • Avoid wearing socks that are too tight or loose.
  • Wear socks to bed to keep them warm. Do not use external heating devices.
  • Clean and inspect the inside of your shoes to prevent your feet from being irritated.
  • Keep your feet warm and dry to prevent fungus and infections.
  • Do not walk barefoot as this can cause unwanted bumps and bruises.
  • Don't smoke as this impairs blood circulation to your feet.
  • Take care of your diabetes as this will help with your foot care.
  • Get regular foot exams from a podiatrist.
