Pedorthics is the design, manufacture, modification and fit of footwear, shoes and foot orthoses to alleviate problems caused by disease, overuse, congenital condition or injury.
The certified individuals providing these services are pedorthists and The Feet People have three pedorthists on staff.
Using the latest technology combined with their knowledge of issues with your feet, they can design and fabricate orthoses or do shoe modifications to meet your needs.
Digital images of your feet are made using a pictorial scan of the bottom of the feet or a scan of an impression of your feet in biofoam. These images can be modified as needed according to your health provider's instructions.
Orthoses are then fabricated using a variety of materials in our in-house laboratory using CAD-CAM milling machines.
Depending on the patient's weight and activity level, top coverings are glued on the machined base to give that extra cushion and relief. These styles of orthoses are easily adjusted and they can be recovered to give years of use. The Feet People will bill insurances directly for you.
Custom orthoses are not always necessary. At times a heel lift, a shoe modification, a medical grade pad or even just a properly fit pair of shoes will increase someone's comfort level. The Pedorthists are there to suggest solutions of all kinds.
If you doctor recommends that you see a pedorthist we can help. We have a certified pedorthist on staff. To make an appointment with our pedorthist call 218-822-3026.
As a foot care specialist our pedorthist is trained in gait analysis, foot orthoses, wound care and custom shoe fabrication. She is trained to recognize foot conditions that may need to be treated by a medical physician. She can recommend foot care that can be taken before the problem becomes debilitating or limb threatening. She will follow your foot care closely to ensure the success of all prescribed and applied modalities and will follow up regularly with your medical doctor if needed.
As a Board Certified Pedorthist Mary Jo Hamilton is qualified and skilled to work in conjunction with your physical therapist, physician, chiropractor, orthopedic doctor, or podiatrist.
We will schedule you for comprehensive consultation at your convenience.
Visiting our pedorthist is a very relaxing experience. During your first visit our pedorthist will do a complete examination of your feet, your posture, your balance and your gait (this is the way you normally walk). We will then make a casting of one or both of your feet in our lab. If needed, we will discuss the results of your casting with other members of your footcare team. We will then plan for the proper pedorthic devices and treatment. Future visits will depend on how your foot condition responds to treatment.
We work with all of our customers in every way to assit them with Medicare and there insurance company. Your insurance company will be able to inform you of what is and what is not covered toward your footcare needs. Perdorthics services are typically not covered under insurance plans. Please check with your insurance company.
